· Lesson: Soldiers need someone to provide them with support, both mentally and physically. o When soldiers came back from Vietnam, countless numbers of war veterans suffered from post- traumatic stress syndrome. Unfortunately, it was common for these soldiers to have a hard time mentally adjusting to life back home and dealing with their Vietnam experiences. There were many reasons why a Vietnam veteran would experience post-traumatic stress syndrome. When many soldier returned home, they were shunned by their community for fighting in an unjust war. If there was no reason to fight in the first place, soldiers became confused about why they had to suffer and watch their colleagues being murdered. In addition, soldiers often had to cope with changes that occurred in their families and lives back home while they were in Vietnam.
