Plant closings and unsafe environmental practices have extremely negative effects on the community, where as they also produce helpful and necessary elements to the American way of life. This is all apparent in the movie. The lack of honesty in PG&G led to a law suit against them. The entire nation depends on the the honesty of their employees and citizens. When this trust is broken, unforeseeable complications arise. The company had realized that they had done something wrong, they had test samples that proved that the ground in the community was indeed toxic and unsafe to humans.
