Osmosis is when you have a region of high concentration to low concentration of water through a semi permeable membrane. Osmosis can occur in plant cells human cells and animal cells. Famous words often used in osmosis coursework are plasmolysed, turgid hyper tonic, isotonic and hype tonic. Plasmolysed means when a cell has too little water inside it so it collapses and then shrinks. Turgid is when the cell becomes swollen and soft.
