It is unjustifiable to expose America's public to health effects of passive smoke, which has been found by the American Lung Association to be the third leading cause of preventable death, behind only smoking itself and alcohol. But that is just the tip of the iceburg on why smoking in public should be outlawed. Not only is smoking in public detrimental to the health of those exposed to the second hand smoke, it is often seen as offensive to those who are trying to quit, and smokey rooms are dirty and unsanitary. Everyone in here knows that smoking is bad and extremely unhealthy. What most people underestimate however, is just how deadly second hand smoke really is. To get a full understanding of just how deadly passive smoke is, one must examine the facts and statistics developed by the government and the American Lung Association. There are 39 cancer causing toxins, such as lead, inside of second hand smoke. When inhaled, these toxins are prone to cause asthma, emphasyma, leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, bronchitis, inflammation of the liver, kidney disease, anemia, elevated blood pressure, brain tumors, memory loss, color blindness, and even genetic mutations.
