Buddhism
On October 8, 2002 at 4:30 p.m., I attended a speech in the Spotts World Culture auditorium on the Four Nobel Truths of Buddhism. It was presented by two of the seven Tibetan monks visiting from the Gaden Shartse Monastery. These speakers were sponsored by the Slippery Rock College of Humanities. The main purpose of this speech was to inform the audience of some of the foundational teachings associated with Buddhism as well as some of the training involved in the monasteries. They related this to us through their personal training and education on these topics. Since these monks were from Tibet, there was a language barrier between them and the audience. They had to adapt by bringing in a translator to translate what they were saying to the audience.
