Is it reasonable to link environment degradation with terrorism? While it may not be the underlying root cause of terrorism, environmental degradation is one of the significant causes of terrorism. The lack of basic sanitation needs, clean water, shelter, and decent soil for farm land are all causes of environmental degradation. These environmental stresses to a country leads to poverty and in some cases even death of the population. The misery created by the environmental degradation leads to anger and jealously towards the states that are doing better. Not only are the people fueled by anger and jealously, but they are also looking for any kind of explanation for why they are in their present state of poverty. Corrupt governments and factions of the region use this misery and lack of blame to exploit the people, and manipulate them into thinking that that the western world is the cause of the environmental degradation.
