Patrick Ewing Jersey Retired In recent news the knick great Patrick Ewing who is now an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic had his jersey raised to the rafters at halftime of a knick game last week. Patrick Ewing was the first overall draft pick in the 1985 draft as the Knicks chose him to be the cornerstone of their organization as a center. He graduated from the university of Georgetown and was coached by the great John Thomson. Ewing was a great for the pick for the Knicks as he was picked as the rookie of the year for 1985. Ewing played for the Knicks with a passion and heart that not a lot of other players in the league could match as he was one of the elite centers of his time. He brought glory back to New York since Walt Clyde Frazier and Willis Reed did it in the younger years of the organization when they won the NBA championship two years in a row.
