The Misquitos live in the department of Gracias a Dios, in the region of the Mosquitia, between the CABOS CAMARON and Gracias a Dios, and in valleys of the Coco rivers, morocon, patuca and platinó. Like the extreme ones, are of origin chibcha. Its constitution as group took place in century seventeen, as a result of the biological and cultural mestization with the extreme ones, with individuals of African ancestry and also with European. Dedicated to a large extent to agriculture, the fishing, the diving and the commerce, dominate navigation by intrincate manglares, the Misquitos are the bigger indigenous population group of the Mosquitia, distributed in costaneros towns, and towns of rivers and lagoons.
