The studio space is open like the spaces created by Miess Van Der Rohe, the control of the design and attention to detail is absolute like that of Arne Jocobsen and the design emphasizes geometric order and symmetry like the work of Mario Botta. As you enter the studio it is initially a quite dim, dark space. As you hang your jacket on the meticulously placed wooden peg next to the door and turn to face the far end of the studio, to your surprise, the far end of the room is awash in brilliant, radiant sunshine that beams through the large glass panels at the far end of the room flooding the space with natural light. The extremely large windows, interrupted rhythmically by structural timbers, create the sense that there is actually no barrier between you and the outside, the impression is given that you are out in the beautiful Corbridge countryside, you can smell the fresh air, you can feel the light breeze and you can hear the slight rustling of leaves in the wind above the calm, soothing tones of classical music that is playing in the room.
