The Canadian English Dictionary defines satire as “a foolish person held up to ridicule”. The movie ‘Tampopo’ uses satire towards Tampopo by making fun of her being a chef in the world of male chefs. She felt that she must be the same as them and worked very hard to make sure that her quality of cooking did not waver. Food is more than that. It’s differences are what make it interesting. You always hear people discussing their meals at different restaurants. It would be very uninteresting if everyone’s spaghetti was the same, no matter which restaurant they ate at. The chef should show their own personality, their own self, through their cooking. Food is a necessity for every human being to survive. Food can be used as a tool for many things. It can be used to start a business. It is used as a social event, for sexual pleasure and in this case, it can be used to make a movie! Food is used to relieve stress. Many people just grab something, anything, when they are feeling nervous, sad or anxious. Different foods are eaten on different occasions. At a birthday party for a twelve year old, chips and chocolate are eaten and don’t forget the cake! When a girl breaks up with her boyfriend, she is most likely to have a bucket of ice cream. On Valentines’ day, when a man wants to send his girlfriend something to tell her he loves her, chances are, he wouldn’t sent her a lobster, he would send candy or chocolate.
