Architecture is an art where architects apply their imagination and creativity. The products of those are the buildings and works of art all over the world. Ever since her first piece of work, the Vietnam Veterans memorial, Maya Ying Lin has gone from a young undergraduate at Yale University to a prominent architect and artiest. She has created many works of art that has led to her success. Because of her huge contributions, Maya Lin has become well known for her skill in art and architecture. Many, if not all, of those who have visited Maya’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial have felt deep emotion surge through them as they touched and gazed at the names of the Americans who died or were missing in action in the Vietnam War. When she visited it herself, she said, “’I searched out the name of a friend’s father. I touched it and I cried. I was another visitor, and I was reacting to it as I designed it.’” (Malone, p. 57) Instead of it being a long man-made wall that listed names of the died in the Vietnam War, it is more like a scar, forever a part of earth, that holds a powerful antiwar statement.
