Genetic Engineering: Right or Wrong
There have been many worldly debates concerning the multitude of scientific advances of mankind; but none will be more debatable than the issue of genetic engineering. Many of the debates have separated the religious sector from the scientific community. The majority of the religious sectors view any scientific advances that deal with the “natural” processes of life as “damnable” (Genetic). They argue that mankind should not interfere with the natural creations of God; God being the one and only creator of life. Recent history suggests that during the time of the holocaust (1933-1945), Hitler and many of his scientists invested enormous amounts of time and money in trying to bring about the superior race. Through multi-media genetic engineering is finding its way into America’s society, thus providing interested parties with the opportunity to create the “perfect” child (Genetic). No one should use genetic engineering as a way of creating their idea of the “ideal” child, but rather it should be used as a preventive measure in cases where the parents are more than likely to have a child born with a disorder or life threatening illness due to genetic predisposition.
